The vineyard of Saint-Pourçain is said to be older than that of the Romans. This excellent wine has long been appreciated: from Saint Louis at his royal table to the popes in Avignon (60 to 120 hectoliters per year!). The vineyard reached its peak at the end of the 18th century with more than eight thousand hectares.
